چکیده

The latissimus dorsi is a broad muscle that originates from the inferior thoracic spinous processes, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, and ribs. It inserts on aspect of intertubercular groove humerus through thin tendon. study was conducted 10 cadavers (7 male 3 female). These specimens were dissected examined to gross anatomical characteristics muscle. dimensions its surface area measured in all cadavers. branching pattern thoracodorsal vessels recorded. pedicle length caliper using Vernier calipers. On 20 sides, artery found be one terminal branches subscapular axillary region. In 19 (95 %) cases, terminated bifurcation, giving off medial lateral branch. average size elevated flap 18 cm x 36 cm. 9.5 (range: 5 cm-14 cm), diameter at origin 2.5 mm 1.5 mm-3.5 mm). vena comitans 3.3 mm. current focuses features blood supply increase success rate operations clinical practice.

Comparison of morbidity-related seroma formation following conventional latissimus dorsi flap versus muscle-sparing latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction

PURPOSE The pedicled, descending-branch muscle-sparing latissimus dorsi (MSLD) flap has been widely used for breast reconstruction following total mastectomy. However, the superiority of the MSLD flap compared to the conventional latissimus dorsi (CLD) flap in preventing seroma formation has not been demonstrated. This study compares the morbidities related to seroma formation following pedicle...

Compartmentalization of the Latissimus Dorsi Muscle

This anatomical study provides a detailed description of the thoraco-dorsal artery, vein and nerve systems within the latissimus dorsi muscle. The nerve and vascular relationships in ten fresh cadaveric latissimus dorsi muscle specimens, were analysed. Radio-opaque material was injected into the thoraco-dorsal artery, while the thoraco-dorsal nerve and its main branches were dissected and label...

Bipolar latissimus dorsi flap transfer for reconstruction of the deltoid.

Four patients with complete paralysis of the deltoid muscle with irrepairable axillary nerve lesion and one with traumatic destruction of the shoulder cap were treated with a bipolar latissimus dorsi muscle transfer. The latissimus dorsi muscle was prepared as an island flap, turned over and sutured to the trapezius proximally and to the original deltoid insertion on the humerus distally. Funct...

Reconstruction of sternal defects with autologous bone grafts and myocutaneous flap of the latissimus dorsi muscle.

In one case of sternal metastasis associated with necrotic osteomyelitis from breast carcinoma we performed subtotal sternotomy including adjacent structures. The resulting defect over the pericardium was reconstructed by the fibula, ribs and a myocutaneous flap of the latissimus dorsi muscle for protection and stability of the anterior chest wall after the operation. The usefulness of the myoc...

The “Reverse” Latissimus Dorsi Flap for Large Lower Lumbar Defect

The latissimus dorsi (LD) flap is one of the most common flaps used in plastic surgery based on its dominant thoracodorsal pedicle as well as free tissue transfer. The "distally based" or "reverse" fashion design has been used to repair myelomeningoceles, congenital diaphragmatic agenesis, or thoracolumbar defects. We present a case of a large lumbar defect after cancer resection covered by a c...
